Furry History

I was basically introduced to the wonderful world of furries around age 15. At the beginning, it was just a interest with cartoon characters and werewolves in the media. However, as the internet began to flourish, I discovered that there was an established community of individuals who enjoyed the idea of anthromorphic creatures on a multitude of levels. I, of course, began to search the net for art, and eventually came across the IRCs where I was able to chat and romp with other furs across the world. I believe my love of nature and all of nature's creatures is what sparked my interest, but in the end, I believe it was the ability to open up and communicate in a format that was true to myself that really encouraged me to explore the furrydom further. Perro, in my opinion, is the total encompassment of  my spirit and characteristics.......friendly, open, caring, loving, and wild at heart.

I will admit, I took a two year hiatus from the Furrydom for countless reasons. A mixture of depression, school, and confusion forced me to stay away, and to my friends, I do apologize for dropping off the face of the earth. I knew, for me to get better, I needed to get away from the computer and experience life. So, in time, I got better. Now, I am back to 100%, and with the support of a select few furry friends, I returned to the fandom in the summer of 2002. Yea! Anyways, I typically hang out in the IRC Furnet chats, so please take a look for me if you frequent the area.

I am currently dating Wolphy, a wonderful wolf who resides in Indiana and works for Wolf Park. Sorry guys, I am a very taken and very much happy mutt.

Background

A recent graduate (Class of 2001) with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science, I am currently living in Charlotte, North Carolina and working for a small law firm. The law firm, in fact, has all gay employees, which tends to make for an interesting working environment. My aspirations are to go into environmental law, but I am still keeping  my options open at this time.

Guess you could characterize me as a laid-back tree-hugging liberal...lol. I am a democrat at heart, but definitely open to other opinions. My heritage consists of a mix of Japanese and Caucasian, half and half, so the choice of a mutt as my character is very appropriate. Born in Buffalo, NY, my family moved to Columbia, South Carolina when I was two in order to escape to a warmer climate. Columbia definitely suits anyone who wants to never see snow again! Growing up in SC was somewhat of a chore; I tended to clash with the locals in ideology on a daily basis. However, I was very dedicated to my school, activities, and family, so I was able to survive.

I decided to stay somewhat close to home when it was time to venture to college, so ended up attending a small, liberal arts school outside of Charlotte, NC. College was a wonderful experience, full of intellectual stimulation, spectacular friends, and beer......lots of beer! LOL. So now here I am, between undergrad and whatever further education I choose to embark upon.....just working and enjoying life.

Update: Moved to Chicago, Illinois in August of 2004. Settled in a downtown apartment with three other furs and getting adjusted to the Windy City.  Currently volunteering at Wolf Park on weekends, where Wolphy works part-time, and employed in an uptown law firm.

Interests

I am very eclectic when it comes to my pastimes. The ironic thing is that this absolutely lazy-to-the-bone pup must be a busy-body in order to maintain any form of sanity. In high school, I was about the most active student enrolled. Throughout those four years I did the following: Varsity Soccer, band, Model United Nations, the video productions team, student council, National Arts Honor Society, Honor Society, AP everything.....I think that is it. In college, I pursued many of the same pastimes: soccer, art, was a Frat Dog, involved in student politics, the gender resource center, resident advisor, video productions, and many miscellaneous other procrastination-full activities. I an an audiophile; I absolutely love music. My tastes range from hip-hop, to electric/dance, to pop, to Motown.....anything and everything between.

Currently, I love the outdoors. In fact, for a few years I volunteered at a local state park in Columbia and worked in their nature center. I sure wish I could live off a park employee's salary, because it was definately not legal the amount of fun I had working there. My job consisted of teaching little ones about the local ecosystem, catching fish with driftnets in the lake, taking care of the nature center's critters, and feeding an injured Redtailed Hawk. I  have also taken a liking to mountain biking. Besides my little mishap where I went over the handlebars and broke various bones, mountain biking brings me a lot of stress relief and exercise. I have built a bike off a Specialized Stumpjumper frame, and let me tell you it has taken a beating. I have also gotten into scuba diving (thanks to Wolphy) and have my basic NAUI certification.

Also, I have become quite active in the local car audio scene. In fact, I am the 2002 National Record Holder for my category. Something to take home to mom don't you think? If you would like to take a look at my newest obsession, please look to the link in the menu.
